Beth Neel

I'm a Portland-based artist making art out of paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

Original Work

It starts with color for me. Certain hues catch my eye, and from there, I think about how I want to highlight that color. I move on to shapes, to forms, to composition, and before I know it, I’m sorting through my drawers of paper and thumbing through my stacks of magazines and calendars. Cutting paper and gluing it down, whether a large piece or a quarter-inch square, is meditative for me and I lose myself in the process of creating something beautiful.

Almost all of my pieces are paper on wood, with the occasional addition of metal leaf.
